How it works
Units for different quantities are not interchangeable: converting volume to mass, for example, requires the substance's density.

2.5 kilometers equal 2,500 meters; 20 °C equal 68 °F.
Common questions
Why does temperature conversion use a different formula?
The scales have different intervals and starting points. To convert Celsius to Fahrenheit, multiply by 1.8 and add 32.
Can I convert liters directly to kilograms?
There is no universal conversion factor. Liters measure volume, kilograms measure mass, and the relationship depends on density.
